This, of course, is a main struggle in their relationship.

And even when he and Tanner are sitting at the top of a damn mountain, holding hands and kissing and doing gay stuff together, he still isn’t gay. It’s like he went ‘oh I only like boys, exclusively, but that doesn’t mean I’m gay’. Not pretends to date girls, but pretends he isn’t gay. But he also knows that the LDS frowns on that. He knows he’s gay, knows he has no desire to sleep with girls. I forced myself to only look at guys, pretend I was just jealous of Sally’s jeans and I wasn’t thinking about how they would look on my floor. I wasn’t raised to think I could be anything different than straight. I am an atheist but I was raised Catholic, with an extremely religious family. He is exactly the type of character I adore, honestly. And of course, there were times I hated him, times I wanted to beat him with Negan’s bat, but also a lot of times where I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and give him a cup of cocoa.

I immediately fell in love with him, probably at about the same time Tanner did (around the line “His smile ruins me,” because man what a line). Sebastion is such a complex character I have no idea where to start with him. After all, Sebastion is not only totally religious but also totally straight. It is in this class that Tanner meets Sebastion, a Mormon prodigy of The Seminar who sold his seminar book and who helps mentor the class. Tanner, of course, takes the dare, because writing a book in four months sounds simple. It is there where he is dared by his best friend, Autumn, to take The Seminar, a class offered at their high school where students write a book in four months. (Mainly because I am extremely pansexual with a preference for the same sex and I love a good book with representation)Īutoboyography follows Tanner, a bisexual teen who moved back into the closet when his family moved to the extremely Mormon/LDS town of Provo, Utah. But I was most certainly not expecting to love it as much as I did.
